King Arthur
According to legend, King Arthur was conceived at Tintagel Castle by Uther Pendragon, King of Britain, and Queen Igerna. The 12th-century writer Geoffrey of Monmouth named Tintagel as the place of Arthur's conception in his History of the Kings of Britain. The 19th-century poet Alfred Tennyson cemented the connection in his Idylls of the King.
Tristan and Yseult
