104km with a 4,469m elevation gain.
Whakatū - Nelson, New Zealand - 14 December 2024
A race that is extremely long and challenging, entering mountainous environments.
It includes the challenging climb up New Zealand's inaugural railway to Third House Hut, traversing along the Brook Waimarama Sanctuary fence-line to Jenkins Hill, and emerging from the dense forest to breathtaking vistas of the Barnicoat Range.
The second half ventures into the wilderness along the rugged Hacket Track, tackling formidable climbs to Browning Hut, Totara Saddle, and Rocks Hut, immersing in the untouched splendour of Mount Richmond Forest Park.
Take on the challenging ascent to Dun Saddle with a rock scramble to conquer the summit, climb over Little Twin, then descend towards Dew Lakes, Rush Pools, and the Maitai Dam. Ascending once more to Tantragee Saddle and to the Grampians ridge-line, before the final heart-pounding descent to Church Hill, formerly known as Piki mai, a revered Maori Pā.
