Celebrate 10 years of the Copernicus Marine Service, a pillar of the EU Space Programme delivering free, science-based, trusted ocean data for science, policy, and industry.
Operated by Mercator Ocean International on behalf of the European Commission, the service has evolved from the MyOcean R&D project into a fully operational system offering real-time and historical insights on the Blue (physical), White (sea ice), and Green (biogeochemical) ocean, globally and regionally.
🔹 Highlights from the decade:
Sentinel satellite integration (Sentinel-1 to Sentinel-6)
Launch of the Ocean State Report, Ocean Climate Portal, and Coastal & Arctic Hubs
Support for the EU Digital Twin Ocean and OceanPrediction DCC
46 partners in 18 countries via the National Collaboration Programme
This 10th anniversary was part of the UN Ocean Conference (UNOC3) in Nice, at the European Digital Ocean Pavilion, where Copernicus Marine was showcased as a key asset for ocean governance and innovation.
