Coalition campaign spokesman James Paterson says the Defence Minister “can’t even manage” a life-of-type extension of the Collins Class submarines as part of the AUKUS deal.
Defence Minister Richard Marles has argued shadow defence minister Andrew Hastie is not fit to be defence minister because of his “untenable” views on women in military combat roles.
“Andrew Hastie will be an outstanding defence minister under a Dutton-Coalition government, should we have that honour,” Mr Paterson told Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.
“He will deal with the disaster that has unfolded on Richard Marles’ watch.”
