Chicken, Alaska 🐓🏚⛏🏕

This is (if you can realistically believe, lol) Chicken, Alaska!

Located along the “Top of the World Highway”, it sits very remotely about 40 miles west of the United States and Canada border.

I was traveling through here just for the experience. I had heard how quiet and a little throwback in time kinda town Chicken was, and figured…why not check it out!

I’d say Chicken is most well known for its gold mining rush era…especially the western themed storefronts, this was a place back in the day that adventurers courageously traveled to, in discovery of the riches of gold.

And of course while here in Chicken, they do offer tourists opportunities to pan for some gold and get some riches.
But, lol, just so you know, it’s all in good fun. It gives people a chance to understand what the times were like back in the late 1800’s era.

Also great about Chicken is it’s a place where you can find good camping and RV’ing for getting out into nature in the middle of nowhere!

I had a lunch in downtown Chicken where the emporium, liquor store, bar and mercantile exchange were located. It’s a cool area and I ate at the Chicken Creek Cafe.
I must say…the prices for my lunch were outrageously expensive!
For a chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato and onions on a bun and a side of potato wedges, (along with a can of soda), it was $25.
Then, at the Chicken Creek Cafe, I also purchased $10 worth of souvenirs like a magnet, keychain and postcard, and finally with gratuity…my lunch came to $43.

But, overall, it was still nice of an experience to come visit here. Who in the world has ever heard of Chicken, Alaska??? I’m glad I got to visit.
I spent about 2.5 hours hanging out and exploring around…(and there’s really not much to do here), before continuing to the Canadian border and entering another gold rush era themed/western town…and that being Dawson City, Yukon.

Lastly, there was no cell phone reception here in Chicken. That’s too bad, because in this day and age…almost everywhere has a cell signal…it’s become the new norm in life, lol.
