In this soap making video, I’ll share my approach to soap making using mandarin. Instead of the usual mandarin juice, I add fresh mandarin puree directly into the soap after adding the lye and before blending. This soap making technique is an experiment to see if it can create a smooth, uniform bar with a beautiful visual appeal. To give the soap a rich brown-orange color, I use turmeric powder with the infused oil method.
This soap making recipe features soft oils, including rice bran oil, and uses sodium lactate to make the soap firmer and reduce the time to unmold. I also include rosemary extract to help prevent oxidation of the oils. A key ingredient in every soap making recipe I create is sodium citrate, which prevents soap scum and extends the soap’s shelf life.
If you love soap making, this video is perfect for you! Watch to learn how to make your own mandarin soap at home using this unique cold process method.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Always handle sodium hydroxide with extreme care. Wear protective gear, including gloves, goggles, and long-sleeved clothing. Work in a well-ventilated area and follow all safety guidelines.
