1944 Autocar U7144T WWII Truck Tractor

Boom fabrication on a WWII Autocar truck tractor. Growing up I knew the gentleman that had owned and operated this truck. He had a fabrication shop and junkyard here in Anchorage which he operated for decades. I would imagine he got into house moving as a sideline after the great Alaskan earthquake of 1964 (Here in Alaska we don't do anything on a small scale, including quakes). Alaska was a unique place during the 1960s and 70s - everyone knew everyone else in those days and it was a tight knit community back then. This man was without doubt one of the original pioneers of our great State and there were many, many more like him during those times. Thanks for watching and "Keep'em Rolling!"
