An Introduction to the Pedal Steel Guitar

This tutorial explores the basic concepts behind pedal steel guitar playing using a custom Mullen (USA) G2 12 string, 7 floor pedal, 5 knee lever universal tuning pedal steel guitar.

The D9th/A6th 12 string universal tuning is discussed, as are finger and thumb picks, metal slide bars, volume pedals, floor pedals and knee levers.

Reference is made to the legendary Lloyd Green's approach to the Nashville sound of the pedal steel and to the late, great iconic figure in the world of steel guitar, Buddy Emmons.

The potential of the pedal steel is showcased via an original tune composed as a tribute to Green and Emmons titled simply "Lloyd and Buddy".
