While Leiden University is home to wonderful green spaces, such as the Hortus Botanicus and Naturalis Biodiversity Centre, not everybody associates the average faculty building with going green. In 2017, as part of a Make-a-thon, colleagues of the Centre for Innovation pitched the idea of a garden. Working in innovation means that our environemnt is fast-past and constantly changing, and our mission to 'put people first in innovation' also applies to our internal community. We beleive that green spaces, both inside and out, can provide a calm and welcoming environemnt in which to take care of ourselves and enhance our creativity.
The Mindful Garden, now in its third season, is a community garden initiative by the Centre for Innovation. The garden is in the backyard of the CFI offices at Schouwburgstraat, The Hague. The Centre set up the garden to encourage the Healthy Working Habits for our own staff and students, as well as contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by showcasing what everybody can do in their own environment.
