U.S. President Donald Trump said he had been told that the killing of protesters in Iran’s ongoing unrest has stopped and that there are no current plans for executions, remarks aimed at easing fears of further escalation. Trump spoke from the White House, citing “good authority” for the report, but left open the possibility of continued monitoring and response. Iranian officials have also publicly denied plans to carry out hangings amid the crackdown, even as human rights groups report thousands of deaths during protests that began in late December 2025.
