I’m Bob Chapman, Co-founder of Dimensions Sciences with an important message on Earth Day. I’m delivering this message from the City of Medellin, Colombia. A city that prides itself on environmental sustainability. It’s one of the greenest cities in the hemisphere and less than 1000 miles from the Amazon Rainforest.
One of Dimensions Science’s primary initiatives is the Bridges Amazonia Project. We are supporting stimulated research in the Amazon rainforest, specifically with the aim of helping fight deforestation, preserving of the region's ecosystems and improving the quality of life for the local population. But the Amazon, otherwise known as the lungs of the earth, is critical for all populations regardless of what part of the world they are in.
More than 8 billion humans inhabit the earth. That number pales in comparison to what could be trillions of other animal and plant species. Somehow, we must all live in harmony. But it’s not the birds and the bees that are wreaking havoc on earth. It’s us humans – supposedly the most intelligent life form on earth. Makes you wonder, doesn’t it?
I’d like to put climate change aside for a second and just focus on the environment. But we no longer have seconds to waste. Rather than preventing climate change, we may be at the point of having to adapt to it. We don’t know it that’s even possible. But Dimensions Sciences is doing our part. We hope you can do yours by supporting us. If not for us, then for our children and grandchildren. If not now, then when?
We are grateful for continued support.
Enjoy this year’s earth day with meaning and reflection.
