An Hour of Terror // Micro-burst on Lake Lanier, GA

We were on our houseboat at Aqualand Marina (L Dock) when a huge storm came through with a micro-burst. Awful! Two houseboats let loose and slammed into M Dock and then back on L Dock. Damage every where! The wind blew and sh!t flew! My biggest concern was the dock breaking apart and slamming into the already badly damaged dock/boats behind us. The houseboats can take it. I filmed it because I could and figured others may want to see what it was like and why their property is damaged. BTW, there are very few people on the docks on a Monday. Almost all boats were empty. That is probably why no injuries were reported.

This was a normal thunderstorm until the microburst. Microburst give NO warnings. They hit suddenly. A microburst is a downdraft (sinking air) in a thunderstorm that is less than 2.5 miles in scale. Although microbursts are not as widely recognized as tornadoes, they can cause comparable, and in some cases, worse damage than some tornadoes produce. In fact, wind speeds as high as 150 mph are possible in extreme microburst cases.
