Feeding wild birds in winter is important because natural food becomes scarce when temperatures drop and snow or ice cover the ground. Extra food helps birds maintain enough energy to survive cold nights, supports their overall health, and increases their chances of making it through the winter. It also helps species that stay year-round in the area when insects and seeds are limited.
Here at the feeders, all birds are welcome, big or small. Birds of pray can visit, and the most common one is sparrowhawk. The feeder is not payed or sponsored in anyway, and 100% privately founded.
----
Holding the feeding stations clean is a MUST! That way you can prevent birds from getting sick and spread diseases, but it doesn't protect you 100%, as sick birds can visit from other places.
The feeder is cleaned every second day with boiling hot water with a bit of vinegar, The log and the board that hold the homemade large suet ball are thoroughly rinsed afterwards.
People are destroying and consuming nature at a devastating rate. Birds are our early warning system., so take care of of our winged wildlife. 😍

ATTENTION:
If you see a bird that appears sick — for example with avian pox (tumor- or wart-like growths on the skin), or showing fever symptoms (fluffed up and lethargic) — please report it in the chat with the correct time. If your observation is confirmed, we will shut down all feeding for a period to prevent spreading the disease at the feeders.

The Bird feeder is located Southeast in Norway 🇳🇴 - Not so far from the nest of Fru rauer, The famous osprey. Winter start a bit later here, and usually do not hit us until the mid December.
You can visit the last season of ospreys nest camera. Thousands of hours to watch at:

🎥📷 Camera setup: The bird feeder are placed deep in the forest, and in winter the light is hard to catch. But the Reolink RLC-511WA 2K camera does kinda fix that. It has many variable settings in brightness and colors, and has a very good lens and sensor for that price. It is not the same camera as we use in the Osprey nests. The cams from the Osprey nests in the summer, are Axis.
You can buy the camera from Birdlife's own shop at: https://www.naturogfritid.no/produkt/...
Camera has the settings at: 30fps and 2560x1920 res, connected through Ethernet on long range wifi router. Streaming software on a dedicated computer. Streaming software are OBS with LUT
