Why is aerial cinematography so prevalent in the crime-thriller genre?
We look at the origins of aerial photography and discuss how its presence in these genres helps to shape story, character and tone. Exploring examples from Australian director Ivan Sen, the series 'True Detective', and the Spanish crime film 'La Isla Minima' (Marshland) helps to highlight the power and beauty of the aerial image.
