Between 1979 and 1981, at least 29 Black children, teens, and young adults were murdered or went missing in Atlanta.

The city called itself “The City Too Busy to Hate,” but behind the slogan, fear spread through every Black neighborhood. Families begged for help. Police dismissed their cries. And a community learned that justice wasn’t blind — it was selective.
