ডার্ক ট্যুরিজম হল ভয়, মৃত্যু আর ধ্বংসকে কেন্দ্র করে তৈরি এক অদ্ভুত ভ্রমণপ্রবণতা। প্রেপিয়াতের ভূতুড়ে শহর, অসউইৎজের নির্মম স্মৃতি, হিরোশিমা-নাগাসাকি, আওকিগাহারা সুইসাইড ফরেস্ট এমন জায়গায় প্রতিদিন বহু মানুষ ভিড় জমায়।
কেন?
কারণ মানুষ এখন ভয়কেও রোমাঞ্চ হিসেবে দেখতে শিখেছে। ১৯৯৬ সালে দুই অধ্যাপক প্রথম বলেন ইতিহাসের ক্ষত, অজানা রহস্য আর মৃত্যুর ছাপ যত বেশি, পর্যটকের টান তত বাড়ে।

Dark Tourism is the strange, growing trend of visiting places associated with tragedy, destruction, or death, ranging from Pripyat's abandoned streets to Auschwitz, Hiroshima, Ground Zero and Japan's Aokigahara. It started as an academic concept in 1996, when two professors coined the phrase: people are drawn to places where history has left scars.
But why?
