Lobi Stars Officially Relegated from Nigeria Premier Football League

It's a dark day for one of Nigeria's most storied football clubs, Lobi Stars, as they have been officially relegated from the Nigeria Premier Football League after 27 uninterrupted years in the top flight. This heartbreaking outcome surprises many, considering the club's rich history, including winning the league in their debut campaign in 1999 and representing Nigeria on the continental stage multiple times.
Earlier this season, we spoke with Lobi Stars' media officer, Emmanuel Ujah, about the club's internal crisis and the controversial pay cut imposed on players amidst a poor run of form. While this drastic measure aimed to spark a turnaround, the results have disappointed. With no wins recorded in 2025, a winless streak now spanning 17 games, and constant changes in coaching staff, the club faces a deepening crisis.
