Oral history interview of Tom Petersen by Grant Price for the Archives of Iowa Broadcasting on July 13, 2003.
Tom Petersen worked in broadcasting for 45 years. Gaining experience in radio news at WEMP Radio in Wisconsin and WEBC Radio, he came to KWWL-TV in Waterloo, Iowa as part of the stations efforts to increase viewership and ratings. Starting as news anchor, he later became the news director as well, and during his 11 years at KWWL, viewership expanded with their improvement efforts. After leaving Waterloo, he eventually settled in Chicago and became news director at WGN Radio where he worked until his retirement in 2006.
Tom Petersen passed away in May of 2025, and this interview has been reposted to honor his memory.
