Louisiana State Police Transportation Safety Service Unit partnered with L&B Transport to produce an informative video of some inspection items that are checked during a Level 2 roadside inspection of hazardous material in a MC406 Cargo Tank. Some effective ways to reduce driver/carrier violations and all vehicle crashes are through comprehensive training and education for the motoring public and motor carriers.

The highway mode of transportation comprises, by far, the most significant number of hazardous material commercial vehicle crashes, which can lead to injuries and even fatalities. Some tips for all vehicles when driving around commercial motor vehicles:
• Avoid blind spots.
• Be aware of long stopping distances.
• Anticipate wide turns.
• Stay a safe distance back when stopped.
• Merge and pass safely.
• Be patient when a Commercial Motor Vehicle is accelerating.
• Buckle up.
• Don't drive fatigued.
• Never drive under the influence, and stay focused on the road.
