This is a report in video form. The crew continues its work as outlined below.
Clive Sparks: Restoration Hangar Manager
Clive discusses the reassembly of the front tire on FM 104 and the change in plans for the tires. Clive, Dan Hilton, Doug Bolton, Bill James and Chris Stewart did the reassembly.
Duncan Stewart: Bulkhead
Duncan continues his work on the bulkhead. Work is now being done on installing the new bulkhead’s stiffeners.
Gary Powe: Canopy
Gary discusses inputting a drawing of the canopy loops into his computer and generating a computer model showing the three wooden loops and their positioning. Then Gary takes a laser level reading on the front fuselage. Adjustments were made to bring the front fuselage into level in order that the level readings at the canopy level will be accurate. He then hammer-forms a new flange, for what he thought was a missing bracket, to hold the wooden loops to the top of the front fuselage.
Bob Brown: Canopy
Bob and Vernon Lappi work on the steel tubular canopy frame and the steel tubular portion is at the proper height helping with the accuracy of the longitudinal line going back to the wooden section. Work included installation of the sliding windows on the side and the escape hatch on the top.
Gary then discusses the position of the flashing on the top sides of the fuselage. It differs from one side to the other. Because of this, thickness and length must be added to the small loop where it fits into the mount brackets.
Clive, Gary, Bob and Vernon all glue and mold the extension on the small loop.
This report is 16 minutes long.
