Sufiscore is delighted to present this remarkable meeting of Indian and European musicians, featuring vocalist Pratibha Singh Baghel with the Budapest Symphony Orchestra. Enjoy the strong rhythm and beautiful tone colours of “More Angana,” a thumari arranged by violinist Deepak Pandit for the project.

This thumri, which was popularised by the Patiala gharana (musical style) of classical vocals, is about a young maiden, who has newly fallen in love and is anticipating marital bliss. She sings in a joyful mood, describing her happiness as something which is pouring down like rain. She refers to her youth and then wonders how she got attached to her beloved at such a tender age, saying that ever since their eyes met, she has been unable to fall asleep, remaining wide awake with only the moon for company.
