This level... is a PAIN IN MY ASS. I don't think you need to know why.
Thankfully, I have enough combat chops to reliably skim past this level on the norm, but S-Ranking this thing without using a single repair kit is torture. Especially considering the two ACs you fight at the start.
G3 Wu Huahai's LI LONG is literally the most boring preset in the game (not weakest, like Ziyi; most boring). God, it sucks. The only real threat with him is his Assault Armor, and he can and will use it if you stagger him and go in for melee. Thankfully, he died incredibly fast.
V.VI Maeterlinck is definitely more difficult, though, even though she has no expansion (and why doesn't she?). As her INFECTION is half Nachtreiher and she carries a shield, it's really hard to pin her down while also dealing with the energy board that mitigates damage and ACS strain. And her Pulse Guns and Fasan Plasma Cannon hit hard; if her Pulse Guns had more ammo, I'd probably use them in PVE, too.
Getting past Arquebus' squad, we are introduced to our first HELIANTHUS machine. C-Weapon enemies are incredibly dangerous, compared to the very non-threatening corporate MT-E, the PCA's SENTRYs, and even the autonomous DENOISER MTs across this level. There are more HELIANTHUS machines under the bridge which give combat logs (as well as a pair of WEEVIL drones that are far more intimidating), but I've already scoured this level of secrets. So no reason to go down there.
Now I could have gone the long way to fight the numerous DENOISERs leading up to the pit where the Vascular Plant sits, but the point is to do this on one health bar. If I fight anyone, it'll be the one big DENOISER that you battle before reaching your Supply Sherpa.
The boss of this level, the IB-01: CEL 240... I cannot understate how much of a punk this boss is. Even compared to bosses like the BALTEUS variants, the CEL 240... this Qubeley-coded bitch... is still the hardest non-final boss in the game. I still don't really know how to dodge the beam slashes it throws at you very well. And those things take out huge chunks of your AP. Even worse is the fact that it can sling up to three of them at you in quick succession, and half your AP is gone.
Not to mention the revival mechanic the CEL 240 has. You literally have to kill it twice, and I still remember the first time I killed it with about 1500 AP left... and it got back up and kept fighting.
I would not recommend breaking your gaming tools under any circumstances, BTW. When you feel like you're at that breaking point, do as I do and turn off the console. Anger at being unable to beat a game is not worth any money. Never let your frustration win. Scream and shout all you like, but don't break things.
Scream and shout, I did. I can't remember if I said this in the past video I posted for CEL 240, but when I first played this game, it stonewalled me for a WEEK until I finally got good at the game and beat it. Nowadays, my usual battle summary for this boss fight is me usually losing one repair kit... I have actually No-Damaged through the first phase too... which is more thanks to me killing the CEL 240 really fast than my actual dodging skills (which are fair enough to No-Damage JUGGERNAUT, CATAPHRACT, and maybe could do the same to SMART CLEANER and even ARQUEBUS BALTEUS).
This level never lets you celebrate, though... no matter how fast you beat the CEL 240, V.II Snail will always Stun Needle you and claim the Coral for himself. I'll be getting to HIM, soon, don't you worry.
(Build at the end of the video.)
