This is a classic battle between the Arizona Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys both needing a victory after heading into week 2 at 0-1 during the 2000 season. The Cowboys started veteran QB Randall Cunningham after Troy Aikman suffered his 10th career concussion on opening day. Cowboys RB Emmitt Smith entered the game needing only 8 yards to become the third player in history to rush for 14,000 yards.
Meanwhile, Cardinals QB Jake Plummer was being criticized as a one-year wonder after taking the Cardinals to the playoffs in 1998 (beating the Cowboys) and then flopping in 1999 when he had a hand injury. This was a must win for Jake the Snake.
ESPN's Sunday Night Football carried the game with excellent commentary from Mike Patrick, Joe Theismann and Paul Maguire in the broadcast booth.
This game is mostly commercial free but I did keep a few classic TV ads in the video for obvious nostalgic reasons. Remember Anna Kournikova?
No spoilers in the description. You'll have to watch the game to see who wins. So sit back, grab a cold beer and enjoy this flashback thriller from Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona. Cheers!
