Story Summary :-
Grace has never been well-liked by her mother in law. That much was clear when her then boyfriend, now husband, Eric introduced her to his family. Eric’s mother is still bitter that he broke up with his ex, who used to lavish her with spa days and shopping sprees. Because of this, Grace keeps her distance from her mother in law, doesn't involve her wedding plans and only sees her at family events.
One night, while she's working in the ER, Grace gets a text from her husband saying that his mother is having a medical emergency and is on her way to the hospital. She assures him that she’ll make sure his mother is looked at and looked after.
However when Peggy arrives at the hospital she refuses care from Grace. This prompts the hospital’s legal team to make sure she signs a waiver stating she refused care so they’re not held liable.
After an ultrasound, the doctors conclude that Peggy has appendicitis and needs to be operated on as soon as possible. However, Grace is the only surgeon available. Since Peggy signed the waiver, Grace cannot operate on her, which means she has to lay in agony until the other surgeon arrives.
They get there, she's operated on in time and is on the road to making a speedy recovery. Peggy then starts spreading lies around saying that Grace refused her care. She goes so far as to retain a lawyer using her and her husband’s savings, make a petition and have a bunch of people write into the medical board and to the hospital.
Fed up with her mother in law’s antics, Grace turns to the local media. A reporter took interest in the story and offered to run a segment on the local news. Peggy agreed to it but things backfire on her when the reporter provides evidence of her lies.
Peggy refuses to answer more questions, but when the story runs, people realize Peggy was lying and turn their backs on her.
