YES! One of my fav and easiest POOP HACKS is using a step, stool, or trash can to elevate knees above hips (AND try knees wide or together or moving them together and apart too!)⬇️
Because it helps “unkink” the puborectalis muscle!⬇️⬇️⬇️
It’s a U-shaped muscle that wraps around your rectum to prevent you from leaking💩
This muscle helps the lower part of your bowel stay bent to keep poop inside until you feel the urge to go! Imagine a “link” in your water hose to keep water from leaking💦
This “kink” helps prevent fecal incontinence but when you feel the urge to go, the rectum will send signals to your brain and then your brain will send them back to allow the puborectalis muscles to RELAX!⬇️
Your rectum contracts and the puborectalis muscle relaxes so you can INHALE your POOP out (try diaphragmatic breathing!)🔥
Are you sitting on the toilet longer than 10 minutes for a bowel movement?💩
Pooping should be completed within seconds to a few minutes!💩
Yes, even sitting for 5 minutes is a very long time for your pelvic floor.
You want to avoid straining or pushing and pooping should be completed in less than 3-5 min to prevent and manage pelvic floor issues like hemorrhoids, fissures, prolapse, etc!✅
