For engineers out there who work in Pro Tools and have to send sessions between different I/O setups, this is for you!
You may know about the ‘Session Data’ option under File 👉🏼 Import, which is helpful for selecting previously used tracks or templates.
But what if you have to change the I/O in a session that was recorded elsewhere, but would also like to retain the original panning and routing after resetting your I/O defaults, this is what you do…
First make sure you ‘save as’ to save a copy of your original session. Then, use ‘match tracks’ within the session import menu to recall these original settings. Re-import what you need (panning and routing!), and you’ll be looking at the same session, but now defaulted to your current workstation I/O.
Bingo!
