He set out to fake his own death...

In august of 2025, Ryan Borgwardt pleaded not guilty to charges of obstruction of justice, Both the defense and prosecution recommended a 45 day sentence, but the judge had other plans...

The judge sentenced Borgwardt to 89 days in jail, which was the same amount of time that he was missing. He was also ordered to pay $30,000 for the search efforts as well.
