RSSB had always undertaken both freight related and freight specific research. This research frequently focused on the areas of safety and interface topics such as gauging. At the end of 2020, it became clear that Freight wanted more done and in new areas. RSSB responded and with great support from the freight community has been delivering a pipeline of very valuable freight research.
In this talk, RSSB’s Head of Research Delivery Aaron Rostron-Barrett will share what they have learned about the world rail freight, highlight some of the valuable changes being implemented as a result of the research and introduce some of the interesting work underway. He will provide an overview of how research adds value and the importance of pursuing the most valuable outputs through to implementation.
