Best Marked Deck? - DMC Elites V4 Deck Review w/ GIVEAWAY

This latest incarnation of the DMC Elites, Produced by The Sovereign Playing Card Co, and printed by the United States Playing Card Co. comes packaged within a premium matte card stock tuck case. Previously made available in Black and Crimson, this newest version of the tuck is forest green with embossed gold foil accents. The tuck case is nicely textured and luxury feeling. It features a minimal design. The front has the DMC circular seal style logo; the letters are of course Magician Drummond Money-Coutts initials. The logo encourages us to ‘Be. Love. Believe.’ The bottom of the box has the traditional ad copy and the back has a small golden accent; a circle with a small diamond pip within.

Pulling the deck out of the cards unveils the distinct looking back design composed of a solid forest green field surrounded by a white poker style border. The main feature of the design is a relatively busy pattern of white cross-hatching. The hash marks are white elongated diamond shapes oriented in many different directions seemingly at random. There are two small circles with diamond pips at each half of the back design. Rifling through the cards reveals that each card has a different pattern of hash marks. If you’ve guessed that the hashing forms the basis for the marking system on the deck you are correct.

The cards feature no less than 14 different marks. Suit and value can be read in all four corners and the card backs are one way which allows for some added flexibility during performance.

As far as the faces are concerned, the deck is pretty much bicycle standard. Pips, indices, colors and courts are all as you’ve come to expect. The ace of spades features a large spade pip with the DMC logo located within. There are two Jokers based on a silhouetted image of Money-Coutts himself with a high collar.

As far as handling is concerned, the deck is USPCC and feels how you’d expect them to. The stock is air-cushioned finish, crushed and the deck is traditionally cut. The deck flourishes and fans nicely.
