First trip into some deeper water of the angler's paradise known as the island of Okinawa-Jima, where monsters lurk, chasing their next meal between rest periods. Fishing in these waters means that you have a chance for a new species to mark off your checklist. Nago Bay is great because it's protected from a north and east wind and the bay quickly drops into the 100 - 200 ft range, not far from the shore.
I varied my jigging between slow pitch and fast pitch. The big guy - Longface Emperor - took the 220g jig after a short pause that was about 30 feet above the bottom. I felt a couple small hits after the pause on a previous jig cycle and sent the jig back down to the bottom, which was around 220ft. After a quick 20-30 ft fast jig, the fish smashed the metal candy on the pause, and the fight ensued.
Also caught was a One-Lined Snapper aka Brown-Lined Snapper. Both are very tasty.
