How to do the Rotary ATF trick, will it work?

We are finally ready to try the ATF trick on the RX8. We already have low compression, but we are not sure if that is from stuck seals from it sitting for 2 years or if it was just not properly rebuilt. This is our last ditch effort to see if this car is savable within our budget.

The idea is that ATF has detergents in it that can clean off carbon deposits and hopefully release any stuck seals. After we soak the engine over a 24hr period we will attempt to run it and burn off all the ATF then change the spark plugs and see if it will start when it is heated up. Wish us luck!
