We see cases regularly where we have a client come to us who was on a City Bus that was involved in a collision with another vehicle. The bus stops and handles the situation, but the client goes about their day and goes to see a doctor for their pains, without documenting the accident. After their doctor visit, they come to us. When they come to us, they realize they can't identify what bus they were on, who the driver was, or what route they were on. It is crucial to be put on the accident report and to be noted to have been at the scene. No matter how injured you are, you may not be able to bring forward a claim without this information.
Oftentimes, we see clients who get injured in motor vehicle collisions or bus accidents, but they don’t realize while at the scene how injured they are. Due to this, people often walk away from the scene and don’t report the accident. Without documenting the injury at the scene, you can find yourself in a tough situation not being able to make a legal claim and you are stuck with a permanent injury and perhaps lifelong medical bills. Remember, if you are on a bus and there’s an accident that occurs and you are injured, it’s imperative to document your presence at the scene before you leave. Before you seek medical treatment or talk to your doctor, make sure you get the bus number, the driver’s information, and any other documentation to show that you were at the scene of the accident.
