Bow Willow Primitive Campground, located in the South East corner of Anza Borrego Desert State Park is well of the beaten path.
This is a first come first serve primitive campground with only 16 sites, so you'll need to get there early enough to smatch a spot. If it's all full, you can always go to the less popular Mountain Palm Springs Campground, maybe 1.5 miles further to the west. Alternatively, there are plenty of open spaces to camp out for the night.
The dirt road into the campground is manageable by normal 2wd cars.
