Nordic/Norwegian Surfski Championship 2024

Risør Ro and Paddle Club, on behalf of NPF, had the pleasure of inviting you to the Nordic Championship. The race took place on an open sea stretch between Lyngør and Risør over Sild and was approximately 16 km long, though a longer trail from Hagefjordsbrygga of about 22 km could have been available depending on favorable downwind conditions. The direction of the race was determined by the wind and wave conditions. Participants had to be prepared for everything from moderate to more demanding conditions. To participate, you needed to be able to re-enter your surfski out at sea under the prevailing conditions, as well as meet the other usual safety requirements such as having a fluorescent vest and cap, a hand-held emergency flare (available for purchase at the race office), a whistle, a fully charged mobile phone in a waterproof bag, a leg leash, and clothes suitable for lying down in the water for at least 30 minutes. Additionally, everyone had to have a license for Webtracking.se and ensure it was operational on their mobile phone well in advance. To participate in the Nordic class, you also needed to belong to a Nordic paddle club. Participants from outside the Nordic countries were welcome to join the open class.

There were 70 participants in the single category and 30 participants in the double category.
