Mallory Park Crashes/Highlights, EMRA Round 4 & DTRA Flat Track, 5 - 6/7/25

EMRA Round 4 and another round with less than amazing grids that started relatively ok on Saturday, with a few races almost scraping the 20 entries mark, but come the end of the day we had lost a handful and by Sunday, most races were struggling to even break double digits and just ended up destroying a lot of video equipment! Understandable really with the weather that hit, that stopped track action multiple times, reduced all formulas to a single race albeit one that was graciously extended to give people a bit more track time, but also cancelled the second day of the DTRA Flat Track Nationals and even stopped the little electric Motocross bikes too. There was some pretty impressive work done by the EMRA staff to make anything happen at all, and thankfully Mallory Park being the best draining race track in Great Britain meant that multiple huge rain showers dried in staggering times, but the lack of numbers meant that half of Saturday and most, if not all of Sundays action really was a bit lacking, as were the attendees spectator side too. I can't exactly endorse the £20 per person, PER DAY, gate price for a show that should be finished by half 4 if all goes to plan, and barely has 100 bikes sign on when the Sprint the other week that did have around 100 cars in attendance was half the price.

Fair play to those who showed up and stuck around, the CB's, Rookies and the odd pre-injection races were good fun most of the time, but the few bike clubs in this country really need to be doing better not to clash with each other, and there are a few ways EMRA can market itself a bit better. And as much as the weekend events are a decent idea in theory, they rarely seem to attract anyone on a Saturday as most riders work a 9 to 5, and when it clashes with a bigger club there's not much point hosting it at all. There are ways this show can stand out and offer something nobody else has, but we've talked about that for years...
