23rd December: Massive Attack on Ukraine’s Energy Infrastructure – Explosions Across Kyiv and Western Ukraine

Ukraine faced a massive attack targeting the energy infrastructure in the west and Kyiv. Explosions were reported in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Odessa, Kyiv, Kyiv region, Zhytomyr, and Rivne.

Over 600 drones, ballistic missiles, and other types of rockets were launched. Fortunately, Ukraine’s air defenses intercepted 587 drones out of of 635, 0 out of 3 aeroballistic Kinzhal missiles, and 34 out of 38 X-101 and Iskander-K missiles.

Despite interceptions, there were emergency power outages across the country, and it appears some locations were specifically targeted.

All nuclear power plants have reduced electricity generation due to large-scale shelling by the ruzzia, the Ministry of Energy reports. The electricity situation will be very difficult.

In Kyiv, a drone hit a five-story residential building: five people were injured, three hospitalized, and two in serious condition.

Tragically, in the Kyiv region, a woman born in 1949 was killed in her home. Another person was killed in Khmelnitsky region after a loud night of attacks.

The situation is still developing, and electricity difficulties continue.
