Richard Shireby discusses & demonstrates the standard service required to the amplifier etc of the HMV Stereomaster 2411 (circa 1971). This consists of changing around 16 electrolytic capacitors. Upon powering the unit up on the bench after service, the right hand channel was discovered not to be working. Clearly the power amplifier was not at fault & the snag was soon tracked down to a partly open circuit transistor in the preamp, VT13...which was duly replaced. Everything then worked as it should. Total bench time of capacitor changing & repair, around two hours.
