Silver Bullet (1985) 36th Anniversary Filming Locations | Then and Now | Episode 1

Filming location video for Stephen King's, Silver Bullet movie. This movie was filmed in the Wilmington, NC area in the Fall of 1984 and was released on October 11, 1985. King wrote the screenplay for the film and it was based after his novel, Cycle of the Werewolf, published in November of 1983. Dan Attias directed the movie. This movie featured a very young Corey Haim and this was his first leading role in a movie. This movie had a great combination of young and older actors and the story gives story line to both throughout the movie. There is a great cast of talent in this; Gary Busey, Megan Follows, Everett McGill, Terry O'Quinn, Lawrence Tierney, Bill Smitrovich, Kent Broadhurst, David Hart, and James Gammon.

I made an error on one of the wrestlers in the Milt scene. I have found the actual footage of who was wrestling on the tv that night and have made the correction. You can see the updated material in Episode 2.5.


As I state in my intro, this is one of my favorite Stephen King movies when I was about 13 and 14 years old. This is most likely my first introduction to both Corey Haim and Gary Busey. I do remember watching the Buddy Holly Story around that same time period but don't remember which one that I saw first. This was their first time filming in Wilmington for both of them and they would each return later in their careers and film another film in the area. Haim would film, Dream a Little Dream in 1988 and Busey filmed Piranha 3DD in 2011.


This first episode covers eight different filming locations, twelve scenes and two new filming locations that I was unable to find on any website, blog, or social media page. I love to find missing or lost filming locations but most of the ones in this movie were already accounted for. There are some really good places that have most of the locations listed:
