SHOPPING FOR MY HORSE // Quarter Horse Congress Vlog // Searching for deals on show tack and clothes

All summer long I've been thinking about buying chaps to show in. Chaps are not required for western dressage but I think they will help to complete my overall look. I'd like to submit a test for the WDAA Online International Challenge in the Spring, so I'd like to upgrade some of my tack and show look. On my list to buy: chaps, a saddle blanket, a headstall, and loop reins. There are thousands of saddles at Quarter Horse Congress and I can't ignore those. Right now I have just one saddle but if I can find a good deal on a higher-quality one then that's a purchase I am willing to make. I plan to do a tack haul video soon.

We went to Quarter Horse Congress during the last weekend so the shopping was a bit picked over but there was still a ton to see. We also got to watch some of the trail and western pleasure classes. I am a nut for trail. I love watching horses that can navigate the intricate courses with great self-carriage and connection - they make it look so easy!

Why am I on YouTube and what can you expect from this channel? I feel empowered to share my story and Dakota's story because I know there are people out there in the same boat we are; maybe my channel will help them in some way. Dakota is a senior horse who has spent most of his life grazing in a pasture. He wasn't really broke to ride until he was in his teens. I've had to overcome obstacles that prevented him from being ridden earlier in his life - finances, distance, time, and fear. Now, we trust each other and are both enjoying western dressage.

I'll share any dressage tests I ride, virtual or live (even the bad ones), with scores and comments from the judge. I'll give vlogging a try . . . which is scary, but I'm in this now! Any other horse-related content that I think could be worth sharing (DIYs, fashion, organization) could become a video.

I have ambitions to progress through intro-level dressage to basic level next Spring. I'd like to give the WDAA International Online Challenge a try and maybe we will qualify for the WDAA world show?
