NOTE: THIS VIDEO WILL HELP YOU GET UP TO 95% OF THE PROCEDURES. IT WILL NOT SHOW THE ACTUAL REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT OF THE DEFROST AND TEMPERATURE BLEND DOORS. I HAD TO STOP THE PROCESS BECAUSE I DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG TO HVAC SYSTEM. I AM SORRY THAT I DIDN'T GET TO SHOW YOU OF THAT PROCESS. IF YOU SHOULD HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OF HOW TO REMOVE AND REPLACE WHEN YOU GET THAT FAR INTO MY PROCEDURES, PLEASE COMMENT ME, AND I WILL HELP GUIDE YOU WHEN I AM AVAILABLE. THESE DAYS I AM VERY BUSY, BUT ALWAYS READ MY COMMENTS WHEN I GET THE CHANCE.
The truck I am working on is a 2017 Kenwood Truck. Customer had brought it in, and wrote up for unable to switch from cold mode to heat mode.
A 2nd shift Mechanic had diagnosed, and said the HVAC floor blend door (TEMPERATURE BLEND DOOR) is broken. It dose not go into defrost also, and said the blend door is also broken. The job was transferred to me, because I am the Technician who could manage this job.
I wanted to perform my own diagnosed, before the repair, but at the time two out of our three laptops were not working, and one mechanic was using the only working laptop available. My boss had told me to just go by 2nd shift mechanic diagnosed founded.
After pulling the whole dash assembly unit out, I had manually performed my usual test procedures, and founded NOTHING was wrong to the HVAC system. I had also tested and CONFIRMED with a laptop (ESA), and everything was working normally.
This is my procedures for removal of an HVAC system from a Kenwood and Peterbilt trucks, as they both have the same HVAC systems. I have performed many HVAC SYSTEM REMOVAL of these two trucks, so you could count on my procedures to be extremely fast and dependable.
Some trucks may have these aftermarket system installed behind the dash assembly panels: Peoplenet System, Qualcomm System, Camera system, GPS equipment system, Omnitracs System, and other generic GPS systems. Depending on how these systems had installed (POOR INSTALLATION LIKE USING BUTT CONNECTORS FOR WIRE REPAIRED, NOT PROPERLY ROUTED CABLES AND TIED SECURED THEM, OR JUST TUCK ANYWHERE BEHIND THE DASH ASSEMBLY PANELS CAUSING A HUGE SPIDER WEB OF CABLES EVERYWHERE) you must be extra careful during the reinstallation process for not causing those butt connectors to come loose, and work your way around those spider web of cables. For some system like the Peoplenet system, if the truck you are working on requires you to disconnect the battery cables, you MUST remember to REWAKE UP the system, or the truck will come back for the Peoplenet is not PINGING.
