UNI student Elijah Yates loves working on automation and industrial robotics. At the University of Northern Iowa’s Applied Engineering Building, he has ample opportunities to explore these passions. Because the facility is newly renovated, it’s filled with brand-new cutting-edge equipment that gives students like Elijah fantastic hands-on opportunities.
The Department of Applied Engineering is a tight-knit community where everyone knows everyone. This has enabled Elijah and his classmates to get to know faculty members personally.
Something else that’s unique about the engineering program at UNI is just how quickly you get into the lab spaces. Elijah was able to start utilizing these spaces within the first two weeks of classes, something that is unheard of at some other institutions.
