Labor says there are some measures that will help middle Australia. And with the Stage 3 tax cuts remaining in place, it's trying to keep faith with those at the top as well. All this – and a surplus to boot – made it a hard Budget for the Coalition to attack.

Liberals certainly tried, calling it inflationary and divisive. They want to blame the government for any further rise in interest rates.
