K to 12 (also K-12) is an education system implemented by the Department of Education. "K" means Kindergarten while "12" represents the succeeding 12 years of basic education (6 years in elementary, 4 years in junior high school, and 2 years in senior high school). This is a move made by the government to ensure that every student is competently equipped with enhanced basic life skills for lifelong learning and employment here and abroad.
