Exploring Beijing Day 2 🇨🇳 | Summer Palace, Hutong Rickshaw Ride & Lama Temple

Day two of our Beijing adventure takes us through some of the city's most iconic and culturally rich sites. We start the day at the Summer Palace, a peaceful imperial retreat filled with lush gardens, scenic lakes, and the incredible Long Corridor—the world’s longest painted walkway.
From there, we visit the Lama Temple, where we reflect on the vibrant contrast between living religious practice in Beijing and historic churches in Europe. Then it’s off to Beihai Park, where locals in Qing Dynasty costumes fill the lakeside paths for traditional photography sessions.
Later, we take a rickshaw ride through the historic hutongs, explore the Drum and Bell Towers (kind of), and even get a peek inside a traditional courtyard home hosted by a local resident. We wrap things up with some street scenes near the Bell Tower and a quick look at some classic Peking duck on display.
Next stop: Xi’an and the Terracotta Warriors!
