Cometeer: The Future of Specialty Coffee Accessibility

I truly believe Cometeer is the direction I'd like to see the coffee industry take in making high-end coffee and techniques more accessible. However, this brewing style is not for everyone because it does not offer the flexibility and satisfaction many are seeking in brewing at home. In addition, the high cost of capsules is a huge barrier to entry for many aspiring homebrewers. That being said, the brewing quality in the capsule is incredibly good/consistent and the techniques required to brew are essentially removed.
tl;dr decent and super-easy way to brew coffee, but not very satisfying to brew with.
This increase in accessibility is what I think is truly innovative about Cometeer and these types of efforts excite me (that's why I speak so positively of these types of products). As much as I think the enthusiast community would hate a product like this I would suggest you all try a capsule and make your own conclusions. I honestly thought these would be pretty run-of-the-mill due to the number of advertisements I've seen but after I tried the capsules I think they are here to stay. Also funnily enough if you measure the extraction #'s they're pretty high (cc: Steve Rhinehart). In this video, I brew a drink with Cometeer and offer my thoughts on the process and use cases of these frozen capsules!
Other Notes on Cometeer:
I am impressed by the quality and consistency of the capsules. The actual content inside is properly brewed and is incredibly flexible in what you can do with it. While you cannot adjust the "base" Cometeer brew, you can still make a variety of drinks. One difference between Cometeer and properly pulled Espresso is the lack of texture/crema you may find enjoyable. You can make most milk-based drinks using Cometeer as a base, but in diluted water drinks (say you are trying to make an americano) it will be similar to a filter/pour-over style coffee. Another thing to note is the capsules and packaging are fully recyclable. However, because they ship it to you in a dry ice box I'm not sure how "sustainable" everything is.
Overall I think these capsules serve as a great way for aspiring homebrewers to try a coffee intended by the brewer just to see what "it's supposed to" taste like. For those with setups at home, I'd only try these out for the convenience aspect. I'd opt to try the capsules at some point in your specialty coffee journey however I would not replace whole beans with these fully as the capsules are not as fun to brew with. They're also pretty expensive, but if you factor in costs (time + money) to create similar brews at home I feel it balances out. What is missing from these capsules is the more manual involved processes that we enthusiasts do look for.
