The IEEE's Learning Technology Standards Committee (LTSC) has tasked the TLA Study Group with writing a book-length report on the data architecture and with making professional recommendations regarding further pursuit of formal standards activity for the TLA itself within IEEE. Over 100 volunteer community members have already shared their time and expertise as the group is just closing out its first of two scheduled years of work.
The Total Learning Architecture is a standards-based data architecture designed to facilitate interoperability between learning activity data, learning metadata, machine-readable competency definitions, and enterprise learner records. When implemented in a learning technology ecosystem, the TLA provides advanced capabilities for managing data flow between systems and platforms. The development of the TLA has been stewarded by Advanced Digital Learning at the US Department of Defense, and development of the TLA's data standards has been led by the LTSC.
In this session, we'll discuss the data architecture — but we'll also discuss the challenges and realizations that have come about as we work through such a complex project with so many contributors and community members.
Hosted by Meg Fairchild.
