Fukuoka Winter Trip – Part 2: Canal City Hakata, Hakata Old Town, Nakasu River Cruise, Hakata Issou.

Welcome to Day 2 of this Fukuoka trip where I did a lot of walking around Hakata and Tenjin. Started it off with a quick visit to Canal City Hakata. It’s a weekend so it was really jam-packed which is why I would recommend going there on weekdays instead. There was also a Japanese male band performing the same day so my guess is fans added up to the crowd. I’m definitely coming back here and would spend more hours inside.

Next, I did a short Hakata old town walking tour. Though I was not able to finish all that I wanted to stop by to, I’m glad that I had the opportunity to appreciate the places more since each stop is not crowded. There’s always a beauty in peace, wherever…whatever.

I also featured where I got the Hakata old town map that I used for the walking tour. This is also where I got all the information that I need before I step foot outside and begin my daily Fukuoka journey.

After resting in the apartment, I headed to Naka River (Nakasu) and explored it by foot and via river cruise. I suggest doing this at night as everything was so vibrant with all the yatai stalls and people all pumped up. It was a beautiful chaos in the streets as I stroll around that night.

Lastly, I had my first ramen in Fukuoka for dinner. It was so random and I just googled what was the closest ramen to me and I had to choose the one with good reviews so I picked Hakata Issou. If you’re sensitive to smell, brace yourself because it definitely smells strong inside the ramen shop. To my surprise, the line is long but moves really quickly. I’d say it’s because people also try to finish their ramen as fast as they could thus, my fastest dinner ever 🤣. It’s a good start to my next ramen takes in Fukuoka.
