About this video: This video is a complete guide on how to make a Minecraft server in 1.21. With hosting a server, you will be able to play Minecraft Java Edition with your friends.

To get started, we will need to download the Minecraft server files. There is a link to these in the description above where all you need to do is click “Download Minecraft” to head to the official download page. On this page, click the “server.jar” download, and you get the server.jar file. This is the file that your Minecraft server runs on.

Take this file, and move it to a new folder on your desktop. Then, double-click the server.jar. Some files and folder should generate. If not, you need to get Java and run the Jarfix from the description above.

Now, you will have an eula.txt file. Open this file, and change eula=false to eula=true assuming you agree to the Minecraft EULA. Save this file, and double-click the server.jar again. Your Minecraft server will now start.

At this point, you can join your server using the IP address “localhost”. However, you probably want to get your friends on your Minecraft server. To do this, you will need to port foward.

There is a complete guide on port forwarding in the description above. The quick version is that you will need to forward port 25565 on the TCP and UDP protocols. Once you do this, your friends will be able to join using your public IP. There is a complete guide on port forwarding that goes through everything step-by-step in the description above.
