United States Coast Guard Ship USCGC Mackinaw on Great Lakes icebreaking operations, escorting the tankers Algoluna (Algoma Central Corporation) and Algocanada (Algoma Central Corporation) down the ice jammed St. Clair River, in Marine City, Michigan.
I highly encourage you to watch this video all the way through and pay particular attention to how the ice changes and starts to move with increasingly impressive force as each ship passes! The incredible power of the ice can be seen as some wooden pilings are torn from the seawall next to the camera.
USCGC Mackinaw (WLBB-30) (240') was built in 2005 at Marinette Marine Corp, in Marinette, Wisconsin and is stationed in Cheboygan, Michigan. Learn more about U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw at the link below.
