The testes are paired male reproductive organs located in the scrotum and are divided internally into about 250 testicular lobules. Each lobule functions as a compartment, housing 1 to 3 seminiferous tubules where spermatogenesis (sperm production) occurs. These lobules are separated by connective tissue septa arising from the tunica albuginea, the tough fibrous covering of the testis. On average, the length of a human testis is about 4 to 5 cm, while its width measures around 2 to 3 cm. The organization into multiple lobules increases the efficiency of sperm production and hormone secretion. Understanding the anatomy of testicular lobules is crucial for diagnosing and treating male fertility disorders.
